The bright and beautiful bougainvillea is a great indoor bonsai tree that stands a good twenty inches or more once it has grown to adulthood. It’s an incredibly beautiful bonsai because it has incredibly large, bright pink flowers. The bougainvillea is actually capable of surviving outdoors in some warmer climates, but when temperatures start to fall, be sure to bring it back inside. It won’t survive a frost at all, but it does like cool spots that are sheltered from the freezing temperatures. A cooler window might be a good place for it, especially if you want to see some great flowers. The winter is bougainvillea’s preferred season for flowering.
The bougainvillea is a fast grower, so it will go from a small bonsai to a fairly good sized one more quickly than other bonsai. This evergreen bonsai tree loves the bright light, so be sure to keep it in a window or in some area where it will get good light. Keeping it watered is necessary, of course, but if you want it to flower in the summer, you may need to hold back on the water just a bit. Once it does water, be sure to keep the dirt moist while the flowers are in bloom.
